Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair has been killed, a source has confirmed to ESPN.com.

McNair, 36, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head in downtown Nashville, police spokesperson Don Aaron said. A female victim was also found dead. Aaron said the woman has not been identified, pending notification of next of kin.

The incident happened near 2nd South & Lea Ave in Nashville.

McNair played 13 seasons in the NFL, 11 were with the Titans. He played his final two years with the Baltimore Ravens, retiring after the 2007 season.

“We are saddened and shocked to hear the news of Steve McNair’s passing today,” Titans owner K.S. “Bud” Adams Jr. said in a statement. “He was one of the finest players to play for our organization and one of the most beloved players by our fans. He played with unquestioned heart and leadership and led us to places that we had never reached, including our only Super Bowl. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as they deal with his untimely passing.”

McNair was picked third overall in the 1995 draft out of Alcorn State by the then Houston Oilers.

condolences go out to his family.

Shaq Traded To Cleveland

June 25, 2009

according to reports, the big cactus aka shaquille o’neal has been traded from the phoenix suns to the cleveland cavaliers. the deal will send shaq to cleveland for ben wallace, sasha pavlovic, the 46th pick in the draft and $500,000.

this could be huge for lebron, who now may choose to re-sign with the cavs at the end of next season. if shaq can do half of what he did with kobe and d. wade then i think lebron is gonna have his ring sooner than later, but lets remember, i am the same guy who was convinced he was gonna win it this year and we all know that didn’t happen. if shaq can stay healthy this team could be trouble next season.

New Book About A-Rod Released

May 5, 2009

alex rodriguez, gotham green

sports illustrated reporter selena roberts has written a bombshell of a book detailing alex rodriguez’ life before and after becoming a yankee. in the book entitled ‘a-rod: the many lives of alex rodriguez’, roberts reveals that the slugger may have started taking steroids as early as his high school days in florida and that he has taken hgh after signing with the yankees amongst other allegations.

roberts also goes into detail about his love life and his tipping habits. she also says a-rod was dubbed ‘bitch tits’ by yankee teammates. that was after he put on 15pounds in the off-season and seemed to develop round pectorals, a condition called gynecomastia that can be caused by anabolic steroids.

a-rod is staying tight lipped on the new book, while manager joe girardi has blasted the author for ‘her unflattering portrait of the mvp slugger.’ Whether or not roberts has all her facts straight may never come to light. right now it is a he said she said mess. all we know is that alex rodriguez took performance enhancers at some point in his life. for this his career will forever be tainted and his legacy ruined, but if he can help the yankees win a world series ring the fickle fans in new york may give him a little slack.

side note: a-rod, who had hip surgery on march 9th has been rehabbing and may rejoin the team as early as this friday, may 8th, when the yankees head to baltimore.

lebron james has been named the 2009 nba mvp. at 24 years old, lebron is the youngest player to be awarded the mvp since moses malone took home the honors in 1979.

on the season james averaged 28.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.2 assists. he received 109 out of 121 first place votes to easily beat out kobe bryant for the mvp.

lebron had the following to say during his acceptance speech:

“i’m 24 years old. to be up here and win this mvp award, i never thought it would happen this fast.”

in my opinion lebron and the cavs will win the championship also, but we’ll see…
