July 13, 2009

bernie madoff

the following was taken from nytimes.com :

A criminal saga that began in December with a string of superlatives — the largest, longest and most widespread Ponzi scheme in history — ended the same way on Monday as Bernard L. Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison, the maximum for his crimes.

Federal District Judge Denny Chin condemned his crimes as “extraordinarily evil” and imposed a sentence that was three times as long as the federal probation office suggested and more than 10 times as long as defense lawyers had requested.

the following was taken from espn.go.com:

Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair has been killed, a source has confirmed to ESPN.com.

McNair, 36, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head in downtown Nashville, police spokesperson Don Aaron said. A female victim was also found dead. Aaron said the woman has not been identified, pending notification of next of kin.

The incident happened near 2nd South & Lea Ave in Nashville.

McNair played 13 seasons in the NFL, 11 were with the Titans. He played his final two years with the Baltimore Ravens, retiring after the 2007 season.

“We are saddened and shocked to hear the news of Steve McNair’s passing today,” Titans owner K.S. “Bud” Adams Jr. said in a statement. “He was one of the finest players to play for our organization and one of the most beloved players by our fans. He played with unquestioned heart and leadership and led us to places that we had never reached, including our only Super Bowl. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as they deal with his untimely passing.”

McNair was picked third overall in the 1995 draft out of Alcorn State by the then Houston Oilers.

condolences go out to his family.

michael jakson

the following was taken from cnn.com:

Michael Jackson, the show-stopping singer whose best-selling albums — including “Off the Wall,” “Thriller” and “Bad” — and electrifying stage presence made him one of the most popular artists of all time, died Thursday, CNN has confirmed. He was 50.

He collapsed at his residence in the Holmby Hills section of Los Angeles, California, about noon Pacific time, suffering cardiac arrest, according to brother Randy Jackson. He died at UCLA Medical Center.

Lt. Fred Corral of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office said an autopsy would probably be done on the singer Friday, with results expected that afternoon.

this is sad news, even considering michael’s questionable past. never good to see anyone pass away, let alone 2 celebrities in one day.

mike tyson, gotham green

earlier this week tragedy befell upon the family of former heavyweight champion mike tyson. tyson’s 4 year old daughter, exodus, was rushed to a phoenix area hospital after she was found dangling from a treadmill, with a cord wrapped around her neck. the child was playing around the treadmill when she the cord became entangled around her neck. she was put on life support but then taken off after no signs of improvement.

condolences go out to mike tyson and his family during this tough time. its never good to see your child pass on before you, but having to take your 4 year old off life support must be one of the hardest decisions to make as a parent.

‘Sixth Sense’ New Technology

April 9, 2009

i was sent this via email by my cousin, who had it sent to him by his father, my uncle.

i am a big fan of microsoft surface (if you don’t know click on this link and find out microsoft surface) and this takes that to a whole new level. at a research lab at mit a group of scientists and students have come up with a new, portable, wearable technology that allows the user to interact with the environment all done with hand gesturing.

this could really be an interesting implementation into everyday life if it becomes as popular as it should. the possibilities with something like this could be endless.

Twitter….

March 28, 2009

twitter

so, i have a few things to say about twitter. first off let me say i have been very anti-twitter since before it became the cool thing to do. i didn’t see the need for something like this considering i have myspace/facebook/email/ichat. why would i need another networking site? i just didn’t get it. then all of a sudden twitter is the coolest thing ever and now everybody has a twitter account. people have been telling me to get on to twitter, about how its soooo cool and how it is good for artists yada yada yada. my friend quickie mart told me that even though im anti-twitter i should still sign up on it. he reasoned that it couldn’t hurt and that i would probably end up liking the site. after that conversation i started thinking about what he said and what other’s have said to me and what i’ve heard about twitter being the new thing.

so now, i feel like i have been culturally peer pressured. i signed up for twitter. i am brand new on it so i don’t know how i feel about it from the inside. i can only say i didn’t really like it when i wasn’t a part of it. we’ll see in the near future.

anyway, hit me up at

March 24, 2009

damon dash

former co-owner of roc-a-fella records, former co-owner of rocawear, former best friend of jay-z and now soon to be former husband. damon dash, who has been having a tough last few years, was hit with divorce papers by his wife rachel roy. the reason for the divorce is ‘nonmonetary relief’. the couple married in january of 2005 in mexico and have 2 daughters.

this is just one more headache for damon dash since having sold his share of rocawear in 2005 for $20 million to jay-z. according to the irs dash owes around $2 million in state taxes and a bank has started proceedings to foreclose on two of his condos in the tribeca area of manhattan. last year dash had his Chevrolet Tahoe seized after not being able to make the $715 monthly payment.

hard times for the once super flashy dame dash. i hear jay-z is doing great right now, kinda makes you think….

The Knux Live @ Fashion Week LA

March 17, 2009

so, the homie quickie mart invited me to a show he was doing with the knux during fashion week. normally i am a homebody but i ventured out for this one after rolling with him to soundcheck and seeing what it was all about.

there was a fashion show early which i missed for the most part, i saw a little bit toward the end. this chick who was on america’s next top model named lisa d’amato performed before the knux. she does some electro hipster girl shit. it was cool. then the knux went on and killed it… i shot some video of the evening with my hand held camera and edited the joint myself.
