The Road To The Super Bowl Goes Through New Jersey; Giants win 34-28

giants stadium

the giants, who were given the first round bye before they hit the field sunday night due to a falcons win solidified home field advantage throughout the playoffs by beating the carolina panthers in week 16. the giants came out slow again, but played a solid second half and won the game in overtime 34-28. the giants improved their record to 12-3 with the win. eli manning went 17 for 27 with 181 yards and 1 touchdown. the giants returned to their heavy run game which was very effective. brandon jacobs had 24 attempts for 87 yards and 3 touchdowns while derrick ward had 15 attempts for 215 yards. kevin boss led all receivers with 5 receptions and also scored a touchdown and john carney added 2 field goals.

i think next weeks game against the vikings should be a ‘rehab’ week for a lot of the starters, especially on the defesnse. with everything taken care of now as far as being first place in the conference, having the first round bye, and home field advantage throughout the playoffs next weeks game is not terribly important. i’ll have a post on it none the less…
